how to choose your garage door opener?

Liftmaster Vs Genie
There are a few different garage door opener companies, but the two main companies are Chamberlain Group, manufacturer of the LiftMaster brand and The Overhead Door Company, owner of The Genie Company. So how will we determine which company is best?

First, we will have to compare the two by its factors:  Features, security, reliability, safety, and warranty/price
Safety:  The genie has a Safe –T® Beam system built into the garage door opener to prevent the door from closing onto an obstruction that gets in the way of the door path. The LiftMaster has The Protector System®, which is ultimately the same kind of reversing safety system. It has an automatic safety reverse/automatic door stop. The door will be automatically reversed in the case of an obstruction in the way of the door path. The door can also be stopped or locked at any height for purposes of ventilation.
Reliability:  Both companies Genie and LiftMaster are known for its reliability and high quality. The LiftMaster, however, is more commonly used and recommended for the better choice and reliability. Most companies will choose the LiftMaster brand openers for its customer satisfaction, and the better opener for durability, reliability, speed, and noise. For the past 5 years, consumer reports list the LiftMaster openers as a higher brand than the Genie .

Features:    Both companies offer similar types of remote controls and wall panels. They both carry chain, belt, and screw drives, but the LiftMaster has more features than the genie .Some LiftMaster models offer the EverCharge Battery Backup System. This system allows you to operate your garage door opener when the power is off for up to 40 cycles. Plus, Liftmasters also have Smart Control Panel- displays time and temperature. It also has a motion sensor in the control panel- a hands free 200- watt light that shuts off automatically when you leave the garage. In addition, LiftMaster offers a completely different kind of opener which is called the Residential Jackshaft Opener. It is mounted on the wall beside the garage door instead of the ceiling, so that you have free space for maximum storage. It is ideal for an oversized door or high ceiling, because the door opens straight up, instead of along your ceiling.

Security: Genie has Intellicode® rolling code technology. This remarkable technology automatically changes the access code every time you push the button on your remote control. This is to prevent a stranger from stealing the code and breaking into your home.
The LiftMaster has a similar Patented Security+® rolling code technology with the same security as Genie.
The LiftMaster also has Posilock, which electronically secures the door closed and it monitors the door from being manually forced open. Plus, LiftMaster has temporary password options, so you can offer a temporary password to guests or visitors without revealing your actual password. With the temporary password you are limited to time and number of activation.
Warranty/Price: Both brands, Genie and LiftMaster, have similar warranties and prices. They both offer lifetime warranties on motors and 1-5 year warranty on parts.

What is the conclusion? Genie or LiftMaster ? The LiftMaster offers more conveniences, features, and reliability for the garage door opener. With similar warranties and prices as the Genie brand, the LiftMaster would be the better choice to buy.
